Brewing Your Brand: The September Edition
Savor the Season: Autumn Brews & LinkedIn Updates
Welcome to this month’s edition of Brewing Your Brand, where we’ll dive into some exciting LinkedIn updates, including the potential that pods may be finally be addressed on the platform.
If you’ve followed me for a while, you know that I don’t encourage chasing hacks or gaming the system. It’s teach my clients to build credibility, visibility, and trust in ways that actually last. And this month, we’re talking about how pods are finally being dealt with, the exciting new analytics rolling out on LinkedIn, and a brand-new way you can work with me.
Pods: Why LinkedIn Is Cracking Down
In last month’s issue, I touched on the dangers of engagement pods: groups where people artificially boost each other’s posts through automated reactions, comments and reposts. At first glance, pods might feel like an easy way to get traction, but the reality is:
They confuse the algorithm into serving your content to the wrong audience.
They inflate your numbers without translating them into genuine opportunities.
They erode the trust LinkedIn has worked so hard to build in the feed.
Now LinkedIn has made it official: they’re taking steps to limit the reach of pod-generated engagement.mutl This is a fantastic update for those of us who play the long game. Genuine engagement will stand out even more, fake engagement will be flagged and suppressed, and people will stop comparing their content’s performance to artificially pumped up stats.
New Analytics: Beyond Likes and Comments
We’ve all wanted more insight into what really happens with our posts. LinkedIn is continuing to deliver. The latest metrics being rolled out include:
Saves – When someone bookmarks your post to revisit later. That’s a strong signal your content has lasting value.
Sends – When someone shares your post privately in a DM. These often spark the conversations that never show up in public but lead to real business outcomes.
These “quiet” forms of engagement matter. A post may not get 200 likes, but if 20 people saved it and 5 sent it to colleagues, you know you’ve hit something meaningful.
This rollout will happen gradually, so don’t panic if you don’t see these yet. As with all LinkedIn changes, it takes time (spoiler alert, I don’t have them yet myself), but once you have access, it will be worth paying attention.
A New Way We Can Work Together
Not everyone wants a multi-session package or longer term support. Sometimes you just have a few questions or want to have a quick conversation. I get it!
I am therefore excited to continue to offer expert sessions via hubble. Think of these as focused, high-impact sessions designed to give you clarity and next steps.
Some areas we can tackle together:
Refining your personal brand so it reflects where you’re headed, not just where you’ve been.
Crafting LinkedIn content pillars that build credibility and visibility, and reviewing content drafts.
Navigating career transitions with confidence and strategy.
Growing your audience and community in a way that feels authentic.
Leveraging LinkedIn to drive business opportunities
If you’ve been on the fence about investing in your LinkedIn presence, this is a great place to start. You can book as little as 15 minutes.
Final Sip
LinkedIn continues to evolve, but the fundamentals don’t change: authenticity and consistency are the real winners. What you do consistently now sets the foundation for the opportunities you’ll have tomorrow.
So here’s my invitation for this issue: Use these last few months of 2025 to double down on how you show up on LinkedIn. Post consistently (whatever that looks like for you - I recommend aiming for once per week if you’re new to sharing original content regularly). And pay attention to who shows up for you - by liking and commenting your posts, reposting your content, reaching out via the periodic DM. Often, those are the people who will open doors for you, and they are relationships worth nurturing.
Until next month, keep brewing strong. And if you see a Maple Latte — have one for me!
