I don’t think I have ever seen such a flurry of updates, upgrades and new features on the platform in such a short period of time. And I am really excited about many of them.

There’s also an increasing focus on what the platform calls creators. And I have some strong thoughts about the word.

When people hear "creator," they often picture someone with a massive number of followers, a carefully curated content calendar, and a constant attachment to their phone.

But I believe we should ALL be creators.

That doesn't mean we all need to become influencers, or publish content every day. Not at all. For me, it means being intentional about creating visibility, authority, and opportunities. It means never being your industry’s best kept secret.

Whether you're an executive, an entrepreneur, a consultant, or someone thinking about the next chapter of your career, you have expertise, experiences, and perspectives worth sharing.

LinkedIn is giving us more ways to do that. Here are a few that I want to highlight:

1. Pinned Comments: My Personal Favorite

This one makes me ridiculously happy.

LinkedIn has brought back the ability to pin comments to the top of the conversation on your posts. This feature was initially introduced in August of 2022, and removed in December of the same year. The reason was supposedly lack of widespread use, but I can tell you there has been more public pleading with LinkedIn to bring this feature back than any other feature they have sunsetted. And now it’s back! No more link in comments getting buried, and no more wishing that the comment you wanted to highlight most could actually get seen by as many people as possible.

You can pin your own comment, or someone else’s, but you can only pin one comment per post.

Here’s hoping this time this feature is here for the long term!

2. Get Advice From Me: Turning Expertise Into Opportunity

LinkedIn has introduced a feature called Advice Sessions that allows eligible professionals to offer paid, one-on-one advice directly through their profiles.

People can book time, pay, and meet with you through LinkedIn's integrated experience.

I was fortunate to receive access early on, and I find the direction particularly interesting.

For years, we've talked about using LinkedIn to demonstrate expertise. Now LinkedIn is creating more direct pathways for people to engage that knowledge.

Think about the possibilities for consultants, coaches, subject matter experts, and experienced professionals who have valuable knowledge to share. It’s a great answer to the “Can I pick your brain?” conundrum, and allows people to experience working with you with zero friction.

Who can use it? Advice Sessions are currently available to selected U.S. Premium Business subscribers, with higher-tier Premium plans also referenced in LinkedIn's rollout. Access is not automatic, even with a qualifying subscription.

3. Creator Marketplace: Your Expertise Is Getting Noticed

LinkedIn is expanding its Creator Marketplace, making it easier for brands to connect with professionals whose content, expertise, and audiences align with their marketing goals.

And here's what I love: You don't need to be a celebrity or a traditional influencer to have something valuable to offer a brand.

You might be an industry specialist, a founder with a unique perspective, a professional whose insights consistently reach the right people, or someone who has built an audience who knows, likes, and trusts you.

I believe this is the future of brand partnerships: smaller and even one-off campaigns with subject matter experts and creators who bring authenticity rather than traditional “star power.”

For individuals, it is more than just a revenue stream. It’s an authority signal. If a brand is trusting you to represent them, that builds your own credibility and trust.

Who can use it? Creator Marketplace is currently invitation-only for eligible creators in the U.S. and Canada. LinkedIn's published criteria include at least 5,000 followers, 12 posts in the past 90 days, and 45,000 impressions during that period. Meeting those thresholds doesn't guarantee an invitation, and LinkedIn may change the requirements.

If you're invited, you'll find the opportunity to opt in under the Monetization tab in your Analytics Dashboard.

4. Private Notes: Remember the Person Behind the Profile

This is one of those small features that can make a big difference in how you build and maintain relationships on LinkedIn.

LinkedIn has introduced the ability to add a private note to someone's profile, giving you a place to remember important details about your connection.

For me, I like to record how we met, who introduced us, and important facts. Maybe it’s a birthday, the names of their kids, or the name of their dog. These are the little things that make a relationship stronger, even if it’s largely a virtual one.

The note is private. The other person can't see it.

My advice: Use this as a relationship-building tool, not simply a place to record potential opportunities. Remembering something meaningful about a person can make your next conversation much more personal and thoughtful.

Who can use it? Private profile notes will be available to LinkedIn Premium subscribers globally.
